Okinawa…..Spring training day

G’day everyone and thanks for your continued support.
Well spring camp 2007 is well and truly underway and we are getting back into season shape with our practice sessions every day.　We go through the usual routine of our warm-up and stretching, long-toss and pepper, pitchers fielding fundamentals and design plays, ground balls and batting practice, and then onto our pitching sessions in the bullpen for the real stuff. After that we do our sprints and conditioning, eat some lunch and then hit the gym to keep the muscles strong. To be honest, spring camp is a little boring doing the same things every day but definitely necessary to get us in the right shape for the games that count.
There is good feeling in camp so far and I think everyone is very confident that it will be a successful season for the Ｔigers.
We have two new gaiijin pitchers with us this year so I am trying to help them with the adjustment as much as possible. They are both very nice guys and are working hard to fit in with the rest of the team. Vogelsong and I are hanging out together a lot and have similar interests so it’s good to have a new teammate to golf and eat and socialize with also. We’ve gotten to golf a couple of times on the off days and although we aren’t going to be on the PGA tour any time soon, the games have come down to the 18th hole each time and I’m still up on the wagering stakes. There is a really good teppanyaki restaurant here called “jam”. We are going tonight for a good meal and a couple of beers before our day off tomorrow.
I’m missing my family in Arizona but they will be in Osaka at the beginning of March so I am holding out for that. My little girl says every day “I want to go to Japan now”. she is soooo cute. My boy doesn’t speak much yet but when I get on the phone with him, he recognizes my voice and says “da da da da”….
Well I am happy to be giving this message to you all and I’ll continue to update as often as I can so please keep checking in and I’ll do my best.
