OPENING GAME!!

07/03/30

G’day fans.
The season begins today with our opening game against the Hiroshima carp and I am ready to get our victory journey started.
I feel very confident about our chances this year as we are very strong in all areas of the game and have the experience to help carry us to the pennant.
It is important to get off to a good start to show the other teams how tough we are so I will be giving it 110% to ensure a victory today.
I gave out wristbands again to the pitching staff this year to remind us that we are one unit working together to win so I hope it helps to inspire us a bit.
Well,I have to leave for the KYOCERA dome shortly so I’ll see you at the ballpark.
GAMBATTE MAS
Till next time,
Jeff.

Fans’ questions!

07/03/19

Hi!I answer your questions!

Q:Which positions do you want to try except pitcher?
When I was growing up in Australia I played 3rd base, but as I got older I was quickly moved to the mound because I am left-handed.
I would most like to try catcher because I want to control the game as much as I can.

Q:What is your future dream?
I would like to play on the senior PGA golf tour. Though I know I will never be good enough, that is what I dream about.

Q:How do you play with your children?
I let my children lead the games we play…but mostly we chase each other around, throw and kick bouncing balls and of course lots of tickle time.

Q:What started you on baseball?
I had some friends who wanted to play when we were about 9 years old and I just followed along to play with them. A couple of years later they went back to cricket but I just loved baseball…

Q:What is your new locker room like?
Our new locker room is amazing. The lockers are big and give us all the space we need. It has all the amenities that we really need to be at our best and it’s all state of the art. The workout room is the most important place to me and I love it. Plenty of new equipment.

2weeks later!

07/03/14

G’day everyone again.
With exhibition game well and truly underway I thought it would be a good time to fill you in on how everything is going and answer some questions that have been asked. Please keep them coming. That is definitely the best way to get to know me and that way I know what really interests you too.
Well, it is great to finally be back living on the mainland again. My family arrived from Arizona last week so I am able to play with my kids again. I missed them so much and it was only a month. They are awesome and grew a lot in the short time we were apart. I can’t even remember what life was like before. I’m sure I was much more selfish and
uptight. Being a dad is what it’s all about.
Many of you asked about my health and specifically my knee condition and I am pleased to say that I am feeling about as strong and healthy as I can be. My knee and arm are in great shape and I’m working hard to keep it that way. I know I’m getting older and need to take care of those things so thanks for all your well wishes.
As far as taking Igawa’s old spot in the rotation. I don’t think I will ever be a starting pitcher again. My mentality is far more suited to that of a reliever. I like to know that I have a chance to pitch every day and that if the game is on the line I can go out and help.
Going into my 5th season, the one thing that I would like to improve on is my speaking and understanding of the Japanese language. I really learned a lot in my first 2 years here but since then, taking care of my two new children has taken up all my free time when I’m not at the ballpark. I’ll do my best though as I would love to communicate a little better. One day maybe a hero interview with no interpreter. Now that would be great.
Well, it’s only 2 weeks until the season begins and I can’t wait. I am very excited for this season because I know we have such a great chance to be champions again and that is what it’s all about.
I look forward to seeing you at Koshien….
Until next time….
